Jazmine Sullivan

JazmineJazmine Sullivan was born and lived within Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Pam the mother of Jazmine is a former back-up singer of Philadelphia International Records. In the early age of five, her father was appointed as her curator at the Strawberry Mansion Section. Her family later moved into this iconic house. In 2005 she graduated from Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts in the class of singer-music major. Sullivan started singing as a contralto the youth choir and a few years later in the adult group. Sullivan was not exposed the world of secular music for the first time. "I started singing as a soloist at church and a person wanted me to sign up for a gospel recording at age 11. but I wasn't quite ready for that," she says. Then, McDonald's held a contest for children in large cities. I was selected to sing "Accept The Grace God Gives" in it's Showtime At the Apollo. And the public was extremely supportive. She performed alongside Stevie Wonder at his grandson's birthday in the year 13. Sullivan aged 15 began her career with Jive Records. When she was 15 the label signed her to Jive Records. The label recorded her entire album in Jive Records but the album was never made available for release. Sullivan was eventually dropped from the label. They maintained a friendship with Missy Elliott she produced some of the songs on her debut album, which included the hit single "Backstabbers" - produced by Timbaland and composed by Elliott.
